About Tyrone Elementary School

Principal Dannon Holley

Dannon Holley began his career in 2001 with the Detroit Board of Education teaching social studies at McNair Middle School and Bates Academy, a high-performing school for gifted and talented children.  He also taught at Blanchette Middle School in Inkster, Michigan.  He started his administrative career in 2009 as an Assistant Principal at Cass Technical High School.  From there, Mr. Holley has had progressive roles as an administrator at The University Preparatory Academy in Detroit, Avondale Middle School in Rochester Hills, and Oak Park Preparatory Academy.

At Tyrone Elementary School it is expected that ALL students and staff be their: Personal Best, Everyday, ALL The Time, No Excuses! 

OUR focus is to support 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students to achieve academically, socially, and globally. We promote a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment which encourages students to respect others, set high expectations, and act responsibly. 

Through our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) curriculum, students work on a series of activities which includes: 

  • Researching a problem 
  • Using inquiry-based thinking
  • Brainstorming solutions to problems
  • Designing and creating a solution
  • Completing hands-on investigations

WE meet the learning needs of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in ALL academic areas OUR program includes:

  • Reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies
  • Music, band, physical education, and computer technology
  • Writing across the curriculum
  • Project based learning

Tyrone Elementary introduces students to the world of Fine and Performing Arts.

Students participate in weekly music classes. Students in fifth grade may choose to join Band. The Music Department also offers an after-school choir program for 4th and 5th grade students.

After-school activities and clubs provide enrichment opportunities for students:

  • Tutoring and homework support sessions
  • Intramural sports
  • Clubs include Choir, Lego Robotics, Stride and Girls on the Run/Mentoring, SWAT Team, Sewing, Safty Patrol, Drama, Green Team and so much more. 

Childcare services:

AM and PM after-school childcare.
